CANON INFORMATION: Here!

PERSONALITY: Despite being 20 years of age, Hiccup is still figuring out who he is, especially as a newly appointed chief of his village. He's very rough around the edges, and isn't exactly the perfect definition of a "viking". Instead of chowing down on turkey legs, and beating up the nearest person who gives him a dirty look, he'd rather flex his brain rather than his brawn. He's a poor fighter in general. Engineering and dragon training is what keeps his mind fresh and sharp. While others have plans of brute force, he tries his best to sort things out reasonably, without resorting to violence.

This is heavily apparent in How to Train Your Dragon 2, when facing down the antagonist, Drago. He insisted with his father to try and reason with the tyrant, who wanted to capture dragons to create his own army. The rogue viking did this with violent measures in which Hiccup was very displeased with, along with his village, whom of which have grown to love dragons over the last five years thanks to Hiccup and his friendship with Toothless.

Hiccup is kind and often thinks of others before himself. If a dragon is in trouble? He puts down what he's doing and immediately tries to draw up a plan to help it. The same goes for people as well, especially his close friends and loved ones. However, sometimes this can be his downfall. Numerous times in his teenage years, on Dragon's Edge, he often ran into situations blindly. Haphazardly he would try and make plans, and if no one else was available to help, he and Toothless would charge in headstrong to lead the march. This often lead to even more problems, and even risking his own life at times. Getting kidnapped by dragon hunters, getting others hurt or in trouble... many variables of that degree.

There have been moments of where his own insecurities get the best of him as well. In order to be accepted into his village as a viking, when he was younger, he did anything he could to find and kill a dragon. In doing so, he downed a Night Fury. In the end, he found that he couldn't bring himself to kill a living thing, let alone a dragon. He tried to hide the fact that he was caring for an injured dragon during "Dragon Training", where he was learning to fend off and kill dragons with other members of his village. In the end, that downed dragon became Toothless, his best friend. Eventually his lying catches up to him and he exposes his secret. And five years later, dragons and vikings who were once at each other's throats, live together in harmony.

He is very resourceful when out on missions with others. For instance, he keeps extra metal legs on hand, just in case the one he has strapped to his leg gets damaged. He even has different ones depending on the climate (like a spiked one in order to walk across ice). And with his experience in engineering, he's able to come up unique contraptions with just a few pieces and parts. If given free range to create what he pleases, he tends to spend hours at a time building things. His flight suit is an excellent example of this. He came up with many different prototypes, testing them out until he found one that worked for him. This conveys how persistent he is in his work and plans.

His mannerisms are still those of a teenager. When faced with an awkward situation, he'll stutter every once in a while. Pause, mid sentence, as if his mind is trying to process things, while his friend counterparts seem to blurt out anything that comes to mind. To help his mind think, he also gestures with his hands, which helps turns the gears and find the right words to say. It can be odd to some, and endearing to others, it's just how the Haddock rolls.

His intellectual status is pretty high. As mentioned previously, he was able to engineer a flight suit all on his own. Not only that, but he was able to construct a rider's saddle Toothless. The saddle is capable of steering Toothless' handicapped tail fin (which he was able to construct on his own as well), with his own peg leg.

Hiccup is still a kid at heart. Once can find him often navigating the skies with his dragon, flying up above the clouds, just for the thrill of it. To forget the worries of the world just for a few hours. He has a very deep connection with Toothless, having saved each other numerous times, they are basically connected at the hip, and share many characteristics with each other, besides both of them having lost a limb of sorts.

The chief in training is sociable when need be. However, most people will find him alone with Toothless. He can be found tinkering with new inventions, reading a book, contemplating, or even conversing with his dragon. Sometimes, Toothless seems to understand what Hiccup is telling him, and the reverse seems to be true as well. He doesn't confide in most, besides his dragon. But when he does, you can bet that he'll defend that person to the end.

When it's all said and done, Hiccup is a very awkward individual, but has a whole lot of care to give when the same is presented to him. Though his heart may be big, it's also a weakness he wears on his sleeve and it can be used against him. He is helpful whenever need be, and you can be sure that Toothless isn't too far behind him either.

ABILITIES:

Engineering/Intelligence
He created his own saddle to to fly with Toothless, especially made for his peg leg. Hiccup has also had a hand in creating a base, fortifying it, and protecting it for years with watch towers, traps, and other contraptions to keep it safe.

Diplomatic/Persuasion
The last thing that Hiccup wishes to do is to cause any violence. Being a newly chief in his world, he's been working on this tirelessly to keep villagers at peace and happy.

Drawing
He can sketch pretty well, which can come in handy when creating blue prints.

Animal/Dragon husbandry/training
Hiccup has a way with dragons, having spent five or so years with them in his presence, and becoming accustomed with Toothless. He notices similar reactions in other animals and can emphasize with them pretty well.

Endurance
This viking won't give up until all resources have been exhausted. He will get the job done if need be, unless outvoted. Then again, he's a little headstrong and he may just try all by himself if all odds are against him.

INVENTORY:

-Toothless (if this isn't applicable, please let me know! I know these two are pretty attached at the hip, but I am flexible!)

-Flame sword "Inferno"

-Flight suit (Imagine him like a flying squirrel)

MEMORY ALTERATION:
Hiccup is under the impression that he is here on diplomatic relations. Plus, he sees this as an opportunity for him to work on some chief-like skills while keeping his village in the capable hands of his friends while he's under URSULA. However, the longer he stays there, he's sure to miss his home, not sure exactly how to get back. But seeing as there's sure to be trouble lingering on the horizon, he wouldn't feel right to return home until things are in order. Otherwise, he'd feel responsible for anything that happened to an innocent bystander or a member of URSULA here.
